Former US President Donald Trump has won the US Presidential elections and is putting together his new team. As the days of his swearing in as the 47th President of the United States of America approach, questions regarding the reasons behind the failure of Democrats have been raised and many answers are being formulated from both sides. The reasons for the failure of Democrats in the 2024 elections appear to be clear for most political analysts. However, more than that, as often highlighted by AfroAmerica Network on several occasions over the years as the elections approached and during the 2024 Donald Trump played and remained a Phenomenal Phenomenon in the US Presidential Elections.
Based on several media investigations, the overall agreement on the reasons for the failure is that Joe Biden took too long to opt-out the race. Then, once VP Kamala Harris, who had been playing behind the curtains during the lat four years, and the top actors in her elections campaign and his marketing strategy and actions, instead of focusing on the key widespread concerns across all segments of american voters, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender, religion, education, she focused on areas targeting small niches. While the major concerns for the electorate included the economy, especially the inflation, medicare, social Security, and international politics across all continents, not just Ukraine and Middle-East, the campaign focused on social issues of concern for specific groups, but that could be irrelevant for the general presidential elections.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was sworn in as the 46th US President and Kamala Harris, as the Vice-President, after they won elections in November 2020. They took office at a moment of major events, crises, and aspirations in the United States of America: healthcare crisis, profound economic challenges, and political crises, cries for unity and racial justice, and after a tumultuous four years that shattered the fabric of American society.
Now, four years later, they have lost elections, losing all the key swing states that had fueled their win in 2020.

Donald Trump's History as A Phenomenal Phenomenon in US Presidential Elections.
In August 2015, only few news media and plotical analysts believed that Donald Trump, the US Republican Presidential candidate, was viable. AfroAmerica Network was one of the few media outlets, publishing an analysis on August 15, 2015 and as the 2024 Elections were picking momentum (see: US Elections 2024: Donald Trump, A Phenomenal Phenomenon in US Presidential Race: Part 3).
"You may accuse him of other things. What is sure is that he speaks his mind, and his supporters and even the American mainstream are liking it. The person is the US Presidential candidate Donald Trump. When he started, few believed that Donald Trump was serious. Then he had that speech about Mexican immigrants. Subsequently, the polls in his favor shot into the roof. He has been dominating the Republican landfield to date... Yes, Donald Trump has become more and more presidential, mainstream, and a candidate to be reckoned with. And his message appears believable,... less political, that means apparently heartfelt, not hypocritically political". (see Donald Trump on AfroAmerica Network here)" He proved it when he won the 2016 elections.
In 2020, Donal Trump candidacy was challenged and complicated by the political landscape and major events, including COVID-19, racial injustice issues, demonstrations, and political tensions and divisiveness. This time, these challenges were not even in the pictures or were hidden behing curtains.
Challenges Faced by the US President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris 's Administration.
When the Democrats won the 2020 US presidential elections, starting his Inaugural Address, President Joe Biden said: “This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day.”
The win was a historic milestone for the US. Vice-President Kamala Harris, AfroAmerica Network Black Woman of Year 2020, was the nation’s first female, Black and South Asian American vice president.
The period was marked by the election of three barrier-breaking senators:
Rev. Raphael Warnock, as the first Black senator from Georgia and first Black Senator from a Southern State to be elected; Jon Ossoff, as first Jewish senator from Georgia;
Alex Padilla, as the first Latino senator from the state.
However, just 10 months after their election, questions started to be raised regarding the promises that US President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris had made. The worries were so heavy that speculations were made regarding the subsequent 2024 elections. On October 30, 2021, AfroAmerica Network published the article on the worries
(see: What Happened to Joe Biden's and Kamala Harris' Healthcare Agenda and 2024 Elections Speculations On Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, and Donald Tump).
In AfroAmerica Network media investigations, the responders were worried that President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris seemed to have moved away from some key provisions of one of their top priorities, which was Healthcare reform. In fact some of the key provisions in their Healthcare plan, especially on Medicare, had been dropped. Also, the focus had shifted to endless dicussions and political negotiations on the economic plan and budgets, with the disagreements among democrats, especially from Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) being one of the roadblock, beyond the challenges from Republicans.
In summary, the healthcare agenda, that had helped the team win elections and had been dropped due to challenges, included:
* Expanding Obamacare by offering all Americans a public insurance option;
* Expanding medicare coverage to Vision and dental services;
* Lower costs for medicare;
* Reducing medicare age requirement from 65 to 60 years old.
Hence, by October 2021 speculations on 2024 US presidential elections had been building up. In AfroAmerica Network investigations, Americans appeared already looking forward to 2024 Presidential elections, with increasing speculations about former President Donald Trump getting ready for a determined comeback to unseat Joe Biden.
There were even more fueled speculations on the democratic side, with assumptions that Joe Biden was expected to opt-out, in favor of Vice-President Kamala Harris. However, then, according to the media investigations, this was not expected to be easy, as Vice-President Kamala Harris was expected to face tough primary election challenges from potential popular democrat candidates.
Based on AfroAmerica Network media investigation, many believed that the question was not whether Joe Biden would opt-out from the 2024 elections and Donald Trump would come back. The widespread concerns among Democrats were about how Joe Biden would do it so that the Democrats would have the opportunity to chose a candidate who would be able to face Donald Trump. (see (see: What Happened to Joe Biden's and Kamala Harris' Healthcare Agenda and 2024 Elections Speculations On Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, and Donald Tump section: Joe Biden's Plan Discussions Mixed with 2024 Presidential Elections Speculations around Opting-out, Donald Trump, Pete Buttigieg, and Stacy Abrams.)
In 2023, as the preparations for the 2024 elections started, President Joe Biden did not immediately opt out, rather waited until his weaknesses showed up, giving Donald Trump unpredicted strengths. By that time, Democrats did not have the opportunity to have key candidates challenge VP Kamala Harris.
When Joe Biden opted-out VP Kamala Harris, who had been in the shadow during the administration did not have enough time to formulate a market strategy to target the key audiences, especially those in the key swing states.
An example given by political analysts and some responders is telling. Despite their closeness and that Alex Padilla had endorsed Kamala Harris, there was not enough time for Alex Padilla to make a case for Kamala Harris among the Hispanics. Hence most Hispanics ended up voting for Donald Trump. They also wondered why, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (aka AOC) a prominent Hispanic member of the US House of Representatives and a democrat, was never included in the presidential election campaigns.
Africa and Long Term Dictators: A Tail of the Elephant in the US President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris 's Campaigns and Defeat.
During the elections campaigns, President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris also made a mistake by welcoming a very controversial and unpopular African leader, Kenyan President William Ruto, as the first African leader to make a state visit to Washington since 2008. Faced with widespread controversies against the expansive trip to the US of Kenyan President, the US government had to officially deny reports that it had paid for the private jet. This was critical as during the campaign, Africa, in which wars and humanitarian crises that surpasses what is happening in Ukraine and Middle-East, and in which documented tens of millions were killed over the last years, were never a topic.
Kenyan President William Ruto has created controversies with his support for the invasion of Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by Rwandan troops, his demeaning the Congolese people, and being a spokesperson of African dictators, especially Rwandan leader General Paul Kagame (USA -Kenya: Kenyan President William Ruto on State Visit in USA, After Conflicting Positions on Wars in DR Congo and Gangs in Haiti)
Meanwhile, Republicans appeared smarter in how they handled the visit by Kenyan President William Ruto. In fact, US House Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson, a Representative from Louisiana, refused to host Kenyan President William Ruto for a joint meeting of Congress, commonly extended to other international leaders.
This gesture pleased American voters concerned with the on-going wars and genocides in DR Congo, Somalia, Mozambique, Central African Republic and West Africa and worried about the impact of long term African dictators such as Rwandan dictator Paul Kagame, Ugandan dictator Ugandan Yoweri Museveni, Rwandan dictator Paul Kagame, Cameroon dictator Paul Biya, Congo dictator Sassou Nguesso, Equatorial Guinea dictator Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
These voters supported Donald Trump who has pledged to reintroduce schemes, implemented in his last term, to increase investment in Africa, counterbalancing his past controversial statements reportedly referring to some African nations as "shithole countries".
In fact although Donals Trump did not fully support, The African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa), which has enabled eligible African countries to export products to the US without paying taxes since 2000, he has committed to counter China's growing economic influence in Africa, by increasing partnership with African countries.
These are few reasons why VP Kamala Harris may have lost elections to Donald Trump, a proved Phenomenal Phenomenon in the US Presidential Elections.
AfroAmerica Network is still assessing other aspects and views on the elections.
