The prodigal sons Muhammad Ali and George Foreman  returning to Africa  in the  Rumble in the Jungle

Like one of his role models Muhammad Ali, Gorge Foreman was also a cosmopolitan. In 1974, when Mohammed Ali  was invited by the Zairian dictator Mobutu Sesse Seko, he  was instrumental in helping to put Africa on the boxing map, with  the  "Rumble in the Jungle" fight  in Kinshasa on October 30, 1974.

Don King, the promoter of the  "Rumble in the Jungle" fight had made the event the most important on the planet at the time.  Announcing the event, Don King  had declared. “The prodigal sons will be returning to Africa ... This will be a spectacular such as has never been staged on Earth.”

To overcome George Foreman, then the highest favored winner before the match, Muhammad Ali, using his  tactic  he called "rope-a-dope",  spent eight rounds leaning back on the ropes and letting George Foreman  punch endlessly and getting exhausted.

Reflecting on his  the defeat in "Rumble in Jungle" fight in Congo, George Foreman said that  he then faced  "the toughest human being I ever had an encounter with", whose victory led to the  "most embarrassing moment" in his life, going "from  from pride to pity. That's devastating."   "I just couldn't believe I'd lost the world title," he said.

But he also told the media that the defeat taught him valuable lessons and changed his life for the better, leading him to "get message out" by preaching the world of God. He  then took a pause from Boxing, focusing on preaching for close to  ten years.

In 1987,  George Foreman decided returned to boxing with the goal to raise funds to support  his preaching and charity mission, including  a youth centre.  He was able to wing 24 matches. In 1991, he lost to before Evander Holyfield, in  12 rounds.

Three years later, in 1994, he decided to take a break, at 45 years old  and  to focus on other businesses, including  his  George Foreman Grill, the "Lean Mean Grilling Machine".

When he retired in 1997, at 48 years-old, he was  the oldest heavyweight champion. His record was astounding with 76 wins and 5 losses.
