US President-Elect Joe Biden has appointed Dr Susan Rice to lead the White House Domestic Policy Council. The surprising appoitment elevates the position to cabinet level. Dr. Susan Rice, AfroAmerica Network Black Woman of Year 2011, was long considered a contender for the Secretary of State position, until the position was given to Anthony Blinken. However, as indicated in our report, the nomination to that position could have created challenges in the Senate confirmation (see AfroAmerica Network: Joe Biden's Top Women VP Pick: Rwanda in the Middle of the Vetting Process)
As expected and projected by AroniSmart team, women and minorities continue to be highly represented and will play a major role in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' administration (see AfroAmerica Network: US 2020 Elections: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Prepare for Transition) and ( AroniSmart: US 2020 Elections: Top Candidates For Joe Biden's Government). Below are the new nominees:
- Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Dennis McDonough, Chief of staff during Obama's second term and former Deputy national security adviser.
- Agriculture Secretary: Tom Vilsak, the former agriculture secretary under President Barack Obama, for agriculture secretary AroniSmart had projected that Xavier Becerra could be nomiated for Attorney General position.
