AfroAmerica Network is following the details on the agenda and the candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are considering and vetting. Joe Biden made the first staff appointments, that includes women and people of color, in line with the campaign promises to build a White House team that "looks like America".
On Tuesday, November 17, 2020 Biden's first staff appointments include five women and four people of color, a start on accounting the shifting demographics in the US. The staff appointments include:
- Jen O’Malley Dillon, as the White House deputy chief of staff, who will be reporting to appointed chief of staff, Ron Klain (see AfroAmerica Network: US 2020 Elections: Agenda of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris - Key Points). Jen O'Malley Dillon served as the Biden-Harris campaign manager.
- Julie Chavez Rodriguez, a latino, as director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. A granddaughter of the farmworker union leader César Chávez, hhe served as Biden - Harris ’ deputy campaign managers. Julie Chavez Rodriguez also served a special assistant to President Obama and senior deputy director of public engagement under the Obama administration.
- Julissa Reynoso Pantaleon, a latino, as chief of staff to the First-Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. Julissa Reynoso is a former ambassador to Uruguay and state department official during the Obama administration.
- Louisian Rep. Cedric Richmond, a Black, as a senior adviser and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. He served as a national co-chair of Biden’s campaign and a former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Cedric Richmond wil will quit the House of Representatives to join Biden administation staff.
- Dana Remus, as senior counsel to the president. Dana Remus served as a general counsel to the Obama Foundation
- Julie Annie Tomasini, as director of Oval Office operations
- Mike Donilon, as Senior Adviser to the President. He served as longtime adviser to Joe Biden
- Steve Ricchetti, senior counsellor to the president. Steve Ricchetti served as a longtime adviser to Joe Biden
- Anthony Bernal, a latino, as Senior Adviser to the First Lady.
