Saturday's final was Gauff's second in a Grand Slam after she advanced to the 2022 French Open final. Hence, it was her first Grand Slam championship. She won it, beating Aryna Sabalenka , 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The win by Coco Gauff was one of the very emotional scenes at the Grand Slam final, with the crowd erupting with cheers and Coco Gauff crying with joy. She then ran to her parents and family members, hugging her dad and her mum, and dancing with them.
The game started with Aryna Sabalenka dominating and wining the first set (6-2). Then, starting with the second set, Coco Gauff got the momentum back and with the cheers from the crowd, put pressure on Aryna Sabalenka to go up 3-1, and holding on to win the second set.
The momentum continued until the end, with high speed, energy, and precision.
The Women US Open final was highly anticipated, especially given the performance of the teenager Coco Gauff against the experienced Aryna Sabalenka in the previous matches. In the past, the two played against each other three times, with Coco Gauff having won 3 and Aryna Sabalenka 2 games.
