American Venus Williams, 37, beat British Johanna Konta, 26, 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday, July 13, 2017, to reach her ninth final at the All England Club and first since 2009. If she wins the final, she will have the sixth Wimbledon championship and eighth Grand Slam singles title.
Venus Williams, 10th-seeded, will face the Spanish-Venezuelan Garbiñe Muguruza Blanco on Saturday, July 14, 2017. She will be in her second Grand Slam final of the season and her career 16th.
In 2008, she won the Wimbledon at the All England club, defeating her sister Serena Williams. Serena Williams, who is pregnant, did not compete this year.
Muguruza beat Magdalena Rybarikova, of Slovakia and who is 87th ranked, 6-1, 6-1 in the earlier semi-finals.
Expect an exciting competition on Saturday. Williams, as the oldest Wimbledon finalist since Martina Navratilova in her 1994 runner-up, will, once again, soldify her history if she wins.
